If you read my earlier blog, https://thebritishkabayan.blogspot.com/2022/09/tbk-cooks-very-special-meal-for-his.html, you will know that I am hosting a lunch for 12 people on 10 December and I asked my scholars and their partners to let me know one dish they would like to eat and from their suggestions I compiled the menu:

In the last blog I made the Frozen Fruit Salad and as all went well this week, I tried cooking the first two main dishes. The person who suggested the Garlic shrimps sent me aa link to a vlog showing how to make them:

I discovered a new (to me) Pinoy sauce called Banana Catsup which was masarap (delicious) and whilst Jhoanna and I only intended to taste a few shrimps we ended up having a whole bowl full!

Special thanks to Jhoanna for buying the prawns and shelling and cleaning them for me and then helping me cook and taste them. We did not bother to make a Vlog as one already exists.

On Saturday I was scheduled to cook a French Dish, Coq au Vin, for lunch. I started gathering the ingredients and then realised the chicken had to marinade for 24 hours! So, I decided to make the second dish on our Christmas menu, Chicken Adobo with Pineapple. I found a recipe online from Del Monte which you can find on their website https://lifegetsbetter.ph/kitchenomics/recipes/chicken-adobo-with-pineapple. It was very easy to make and Joven, who did the taste test, said it was sarap (delicious in Tagalog). In fact, he liked it so much I had to stop him from eating all eight portions of it!

You can see how I made the Adobo and Jovan tasting it by clicking on the picture below:

On Saturday 1st October another milestone in our Christmas journey arrived. The delivery of our second table and chairs from Rodel Furniture. It is beautiful and once we had removed some excess furniture (Jhoanna was delighted to finally get her desk that we bought two years go for my old house in Banco Banco) it fitted perfectly.

We can now seat 12 on 10th December! I cannot wait until it is all decorated by Reyner and loaded with food and surrounded by happy smiling faces. Elay also reported in from her travels. I have put her in charge of decorating the water bottles we acquired from the cafe opposite Allosra at Budaiyah roundabout in Bahrain some years ago!

Elay came around as I was writing this with red and green ribbon and decorated the rest of the bottles while we listened to Michael Bublé singing Christmas songs.

                             Great job Elay, Very Festive!

So, as we enter October, with just 2 months to our big day things are progressing well. Next week we will cook the Fried Chicken and Lechon Manok and the week after the Turkey with Brussel sprouts, Rost Potatoes nd Cranberry sauce. I'm sure that will challenge our procurement department (Jhoanna). No doubt our specialist Chef advisors (Gracie and Arnel) will tell us where we can buy all we need.

"What's that Mr G?"

"Tell us story? "

"OK"

For the second time my HP Lptop keybord is worn out, the key to the left of S won't work so I hve copied nd psted tht letter to insert whenever I need it. It is mzing how mny words us the letter a

You lso become very inventive using words without a

So, I will sy GOODBYE + order new keybord
