TBK News- a new look for 2024

Breaking news.... The British Kabayan has a new look for 2024!

Above is the Blog version and below is the You Tube version!

The changes reflect the continuous evolution of my blogs and vlogs which started back in Bahrain on January 1st 2015. In our first year we wrote 105 blogs which were read by over 7,000 people. By 2019 we had written 350 Blogs seen by over 250,000 readers.

You can see some of the best by clicking the link below:

The best of the Blogs 2015 and 2019 are both on this page of the Blog site:

https://thebritishkabayan.blogspot.com/p/best-of-neils-blogs.html

In 2021 we started our new Blog, The British Kabayan and featured my transition from my working life in Bahrain to Retirement in the Philippines. COV19 got in the way so we shared our experiences of our readers around the world of COV19 and started vlogging on our journey to the Philippines in Dubai and Oman.

Slowly we added new brands like TBK cooks ( and that led to our recipe books which are still available on the blog site:

Our 2018 recipe book is here:

https://thebritishkabayan.blogspot.com/p/recipe-flipbooks.html

Our 2023 recipe book is here:

https://thebritishkabayan.blogspot.com/p/the-2023-recipe-book.html

I was delighted to see the TBK cooks Frozen Fruit salad was one of the most popular Vlogs of December - showing how we have transitioned from Thai Beef Curry and  Onion Bhajis to Popular Pinoy dishes. If you missed the Frozen Fruit Salad click the picture below:

Whilst we were staying in Dubai, waiting for our Visa to enter the Philippines, we introduced TBK Eats- where we visited various restaurants and shared what was on the menu and the decor , service etc. Another of these, and one of my favourite restaurants in Dubai was on our top 5 viewed Vlogs of December 2023.

You can see Indego by Vineet by clicking the picture below:

So what happened to our readership once we moved to the Philippines?

As you can see from the stats compiled for me monthly by Chester ( the Hooman) they grew steadily from 30,000 readers in 2022 to 44,000 by the end of 2023 . The growth in You Tube subscribers has been slower from 190 in 2022 to 228 by the end of 2023- so if you have not subscribed yet please do so.

Our You Tube page can be accessed by clicking the link below:

Many of you have also found our Facebook page where we bring you updates of Blogs and Vlogs we are working on, photos from our travels etc . You can find this by clicking the link below- again do not forget to subscribe for the latest updates:

For the New Year I asked Luis, who assists me with the Blog here in Palawan , to come up with some Pinoy Cartoons of Chester ( the dawg) and I covering the main activities we now cover on the Blog and Vlog and this is what he came up with.

Chester and I spend a lot of time at the beautiful beaches around Palawan so the first was Dagat time! We are currently working on an A- Z of the best beaches in Palawan but need to travel back to the North of Palawan later in January to complete this. One of my favourites was Duli Beach ( see below) and we have had several Blogs and Vlogs from Surya beach, Tagkawikan, Nagtoban, Lio, El Nido and so on.

Next up was Luto Time- or cooking time- and Chester and I will be back in the kitchen soon with some new dishes for you to try. Chester sits and watches me cook and waits for any bits to drop on the floor!

One of our most popular Blogs in December was the story of how we made the Vlogs for our 2023 on line recipe book which you can read here:

https://thebritishkabayan.blogspot.com/2023/05/tbk-cooks-making-vlogs-for-our-recipe.html

There are 72 recipes on line in the 2023 recipe book and at least 12 of these have accompanying vlogs, so we will give the cooking vlogs and blogs a rest for a while. However if you have any requests for a recipe please let me know.

Byahe is Travel in Tagalog and Chester loves travelling around Palawan. A couple of days a week we drive an hour each way to one of the lovely beaches on the west coast and then once every two months we travel further and have an overnight stay to cover various events happening on the Island. Our next trip will be to Barutaan at the end of January for their fiesta and we have already covered the Brooks Point Parade amongst other events.

Of course with all this travel and Pinoy cooking and visiting the beaches I am becoming more and more Palaweno! I just renewed my retirement visa for 2 more years and hope to attend another of Gracie's Pinoy cookery classes this year at the new Poochies Kitchen. My Tagalog is slowly getting better and I can now find my way around the island! However I still have some beautiful places to visit like Cuyo, Coron and the Balabac Islands and I want to buy my drone to give you even better views on the Vlog to continue my task of Promoting Palawan as one of the worlds leading tourist destinations. So Luis has pronounced that Chester and I are now:

Special thanks to Luis for all the cartoons, and the Christmas one. I then asked my Graphic designer , Chester, in Marikina, who has worked on all the blogs since 2015 to put all 4 together in a banner from the Blog and You Tube  and Facebook pages and this is what he came up with:

This also appears as our email footer with links to our Facebook, You Tube and Blog pages. We hope you like the new look!
