TBK Travels in India - part two

The next few days in Kerala had a watery theme as we drove down from the mountains to a lake and then to a hotel on the Backwaters and finally a couple of days by the sea. I just looked at the photos I took back in 2013 and there were so many good ones it is hard to choose which ones to share with you. Before we leave Munaar a quick reminder of the Travel agent name- Chennai Pancikers, and my thanks to my wonderful driver for keeping me safe on all those scary mountainous roads and taking photos!

High above the clouds and for once not wearing shorts and sando!

The lake was a bit of a disappointment as the travel blurb talks of Elephants drinking by the water. It also decided to rain and I really did not feel too safe in spite of my tiny life jacket!

Heading out on the lake in the rain

We did also stop at some spectacular waterfalls and I got this great click there which I had enlarged and mounted on canvas. By 2020 I ended up with 100 canvas prints of my vacations and decided that I could not take them all to my new life in the Philippines so I gave half to a charity shop to sell and this was one of them:

Thanks to Gaye Bentham for removing the fence and the boys standing at the bottom!

Next stop was Choir Village which was beautiful.  I stayed at a small hotel on the backwaters and to get to my room you had to go on a raft. We arrived mid afternoon and after a little rest they delivered the most amazing curry by boat and I sat outside and ate it taking in the spectacular scenery.

It was just so tranquil and occasionally the peace would be broken by a boat passing, or boys swimming, and even when it rained it really did not seem to matter. It just created an opportunity for more photos, so let me share some of my favourites...

Eventually new guests arrived and I had to share my island!

The locals were very friendly!

Eventually it was time to leave my riverside paradise and we headed through a town where I got some great shots of Indian Transportation...

Finally I ended up in an old hotel by the beach where I loved walking along the sand and watching the fishermen. They had home made rafts and they paddled out to see at night and returned the next morning with nets full of fish. I was there on the beach early the next morning and realised that several fisherman were paddling to the shore at the same time, so I waited and got this amazing shot.

This shot was another one that I had enlarged and mounted on canvas and later framed and this one is already waiting for me in Palawan!

When I was walking on the beach a boy approached me and asked me for a photo. I thought he wanted to take a photo of me like the other boys, but this time he wanted me to take a photo of him which I did. He was so happy when I showed him that he bought some friends and asked me to take a photo of them!

After that I watched two guys fishing with a long net stretched out between them.

Finally the sun set on another wonderful day and after a nice meal, a good sleep, my new driver, who turned out to be the owner of the travel agency, turned up with my passport, which I had left at the previous hotel, and took me to the next part of my adventure-the Houseboat on the backwaters of Alleppey.

Come back next week to find out more. Until then.....
