TBK Travels, Staycation in Bahrain - part four

Funny how things happen by chance. I had arranged to meet a friend, Ayan, at 6 am at Arad Fort to go walking but he did not turn up. He later claimed he thought we were meeting at 7 am. Then he said that his flat mates would not let him leave as there had been a Corona-virus case in the next building which the police had shut down . They were scared if he went out he might catch COV 19 and infect them. Because I did not have a mobile phone  back then I was unaware of this and waited and waited and even drove to his accommodation and back twice.

Then I noticed the water was very still and the sky was very clear so I wandered down to the waters edge near Arad Fort and took this photo.

Juffair , from Arad Fort

When I got back to the Spot and downloaded the pictures I sent it to a friend . Arvin, who is a professional photographer in the Philippines and he was amazed. He suggested adding a tint to it to make it look warmer . I sent it to Chester and he added the tint and then the signature ( an idea I borrowed from Arvin) and we used it as the front cover of my eBook and I later had it enlarged and mounted on canvas as a farewell to Bahrain.

When Ayan did not turn up I decided to drive to the Lagoon at Amwaj and walked around the lake there and managed to get another incredible photo...

My amazing picture of Amwaj Lagoon

As I walked I remembered when I fist visited this outdoor shopping Mall many years ago and there were only 3 shops open back then! Many shops and restaurants have changed hands repeatedly like Waitrose which became Alosra and then Mega-Mart. I have also had many lovely ( and one awful) meal here.

Areesh at Amwaj, the better meals where here- thanks Miss Andrea

If you want to visit Areesh this is their website- I just added it to my list of places to take Carl Max!

When I got back to the apartment I made lunch, had a nap and then Corleen came with my laundry and we went to the Lebanese Restaurant in Adilya to get a Mixed Grill take away for dinner.

On Wednesday Kingpromtu came and have me a massage and we walked on Bussatein beach as the sunset before we got some Thai food and he made a wonderful Thai chicken and coconut soup for dinner.

Watching the world go by after our walk at Bussatein

Sadly all good things have to come to an end and on Thursday I checked out and moved back to Awali. However nice it is to be away, even in Bahrain , it's also nice to come home and sleep in your own bed.

This is the British Kabayan, who has now spent a year looking back on his life in Bahrain and is ready to move to the Philippines!!!!!!!
