TBK tells- 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝗔 𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗡 𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗟 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮

My Krispy Pata from Rby Fafery

As I wrote on my Facebook here we are eating on the street at the Bahrain food festival, opps no, wait.... Dino pala kami sa Palawan umiinom ng Milktea at kakain dito sa Caraenan sa Dalan

It does seem only yesterday that Corleen , Coco and I were at the Bahrain Food Festival in the Bahrain Financial Harbour ( If you missed it you can see the blog here: Bahrain Food Festival, the Blog and the Vlog here: Bahrain Food Festival - The Vlog)

As a self- confessed Foodie you can imagine my delight when I saw them constructing the stalls for Caraenan sa Dalan ( eat on the street) outside the capital Building, on the way to the Blue House. The event is the openers for the three-week celebration of Baragatan sa Palawan Festival 2022. Everyone in Palawan ( the Philippines even) loves a Fiesta and this one is set to be one of the biggest and best.

I invited my friends to attend and Jhoanna had college, Jake was busy on his academic work and so was Alvin. However TJ is always available when there is food about and so she joined me ( and helped with photos and translation). She is normally shy in front of the camera , but proudly changed her Facebook photo to the one of her taken at Caraenan sa Dalan by local photographer AHRI Photography and posted on his Facebook. Our TJ is a Model! Yahey.

There was soon a big queue for the HUGE delicious milkshakes!

We started with milkshake ( Strawberry cheesecake for me and Oreo for TJ) and then moved next door for some amazing Crispy Pata served by two very cute boys on the Rby Fafery stall next door. One was the owners son and they looked after us very well serving cold drinks to our table and TJ's Chicken wings. Everything was traditionally presented on banana leaf decorated plates and there were a variety of condiments on the table on a wooden base. Full marks to them for the most attractive small stall and best service. I shall return! When I asked for a receipt I realised it was only 710 for the huge crispy Pata ( serves 2 humans and 3 cats) and the wings and 3 cold drinks. Bargain. I even got 300 peso change , eventually, from TJ , who I put in charge of food ordering.

TBK listens to the band

The best part is we were sat right at the front and were able to enjoy the bands first set as we ate. They did some Ed Sheeran and other covers which we all sang along to and got the party off to a swing. We were delayed getting there ( it starts at 4 pm and runs to 1 am each night by DES and their appalling service- trying to find out how to turn the oven on to cook my chicken pastel. Then the traffic was bad, roads were closed and there was no parking ( which helped with my 5000 steps) . I think we arrived at around 6 pm and I dropped TJ off at her boarding house at 7 before falling asleep with my phone in my hand, which then dropped to the floor!

We had a take out for our Pusa!

So all in all a great night and I shall be returning again tonight to try some of the other stalls food and listen to more great music. I found out later that several other friends were there ( one on a first date with his new girlfriend- Love is in the air!) .

There is so much going on - thanks to all the sponsors

I am really looking forward to the other events . The Provincial Government of Palawan is all set for the three-week celebration of Baragatan sa Palawan Festival 2022 in commemoration of the 120th Founding Anniversary of the civil government of the province of Palawan.

Sadly the event has closed the road to my house- it is worth the extra diversion!

With this year’s theme “Baragatan sa bagong Palawan ngayon – moderno, progresibo at kilala sa buong mundo: Legasiya ng tapat, mahusay at epektibong paglilingkod sa mga Palaweňo ng administrasyon ni Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez,” the soft opening scheduled on June 10 will showcase Palawan’s good harvest and other local products and services from the municipalities in the Barakalan sa Baragatan (Agro-Trade Fair). Homegrown green thumbs will display their pots and plants in the Halamanan sa Baragatan (Garden Show). For food lovers, affordable and mouth-watering local delicacies and dishes will be paraded in the Caraenan sa Dalan with nightly shows. There will also be an Arts Exhibit/Painting Competition and launching of Tiktok, Selfie, Groufie Contest.

The festival’s grand opening is set on June 17 which will highlight the accomplishments and legacy of incumbent Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez through ‘Ulat sa Bayan’ to be held at the newly constructed Events Center at the Provincial Capitol grounds.

Headlining the festival attractions are the much-awaited Float Parade Competition, Pantiguan sa Dalan (dance parade participated in by local officials from the different municipalities), Saraotan sa Dalan (Streetdancing Competition), and Mutya ng Palawan 2022.

Nightly presentations will also captivate the audience with a variety of shows depicting the colorful culture of the province namely: Palawan Pop Idol, Indakan sa Baragatan (Hiphop Competition), Disenyo Palaweño (Fashion Design Contest), Tunog Palawan-Songwriting Competition, Gabi Y ang Koltorang Palaweño and An Evening with the Classics.
Other activities calendared are photo exhibits, conventions, dog show, quiz bee, policy debate, sports events, travel and tourism fair.
Baragatan sa Palawan Festival is a celebration of Palawan’s rich heritage and culture featuring an extravaganza of songs and dances, exposition of products and skills and gastronomic adventure. It is a manifestation of unity among Palaweños, and an invitation to the world to come and enjoy the island paradise and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Palaweño people.
“Baragatan” comes from a Cuyuno word “bagat” which means, “to meet.”
The organizers consider this year’s celebration as the ‘grandest’ with bigger prizes that the locals will surely enjoy their participation.

TBK will be there to cover the event for you both here on the Blog, on our Vlog and on our Facebook page. If you want to come and join us just email me , and if you are not in Puerto come and stay the night!

I will just end with some stunning sunset pics taken at Baywalk in Puerto Princessa ( where young lovers hang out) by my friend Jayvee Bebit. Thanks for your permission to share them with our readers.

By kind permission of Jayvee Bebit.

                                    Great work, Kuya
