TBK travels to Bakers Hill , Puerto Princessa, Palawan

The iconic Baker's Hill- it is what it says, a Baker's on a Hill!

No trip to Puerto Princessa is complete without a trip to Baker's Hill. Usually just before you leave the city so you can get your Pasalubong for your loved ones. I went on my last day at the Microtel and got freshly baked cakes for all the staff and for my friends in Port Barton.

I wonder how many couples had their photos taken at this Instramgrammable spot

Sadly, like many other tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants two years with no overseas tourists due to COV 19 has lead to a lack of investment by the owners and the wood on the way to the photographic platform is badly rotted now. However when I visited again on 23.5.22 they were replacing it and there was a lot of other maintenance work going on which was good to see.

So how did it all start?

"Every place has a story to tell and Baker's Hill has a pretty good one. The owner started with a simple bakeshop that eventually grew and became successful. As a way to give back to the people, the owner decided to create their land into a theme park with an enchanting garden landscape free of entrance fee."

Just some of the many messages for Lovers to be found at Bakers Hill

It really is a place for lovers, with lots of messages, strutting Peacocks, and amazing breads and their famous Hopia in the shop on the way out. All the bread is made daily and has a short shelf life. They also have a stall in SM Mall in Puerto.

I bought a load of Pasalubong for Adam, Rose and JJ in Port Barton and we shared the Banana bread with coffee the next day, just before the power cut! I also took some to Mars family in Sibaltan. I had hoped Gracia would join me as I wandered around Bakers Hill but by the time I left she had still not arrived!

Baker's Hill is the Kind of place John Jaworski would like ( food and lots of pink benches) . Chester, TJ and her Leni supporting friends like Mylene, Alec, Chef Arnell would love it too!

They have different displays at different times so this time it was sizzling summer and the last time I went was in the BER months so they had lots of Christmas Decorations.

They have cartoon characters for kids ( of all ages) and there are play areas and shaded seating for us Seniors and PWD to rest their weary legs. As I said it is built in a hill so you go down to the furthest point where the love hearts are and then it is all back uphill after that! When I went with Drew the tea room was open so we had some lovely cakes, tea and soft drinks but on my visit in April the tea room was closed. I will end with a couple of messages of love for Kit and everyone counting the monsaries of their long distance relationships.

As I am renting a house in Puerto for a year starting on 30 April I have a feeling I will become a "suki" ( Tagalog for regular customer) at Baker's Hill. I am sure it will be on Neil's new "Palawan tour" for all his visiting guests!

It certainly bought back happy memories, like all the places I have visited on my month long tour of Palawan before I settle down in my new house. We did some filming too and Chester has it in his pile of clips to edit and transform into one of his amazing vlogs. He will embed the Vlog here once its ready. Do not forget to subscribe to our You Tube Channel and to like and ring the bell so you get a notification each time Chester uploads a new Vlog

In my next blog Alvin and I will take you to the Secret Bay where we met the baby Pawikans ( Turtles)

Until then Ingat Palagi and Kita Kits anaks
