TBK Eats at The Bahrain Food Festival - a Vlog and Blog special part two

With so much good food on offer we returned on Friday , and this time I bought the whole TBK Bahrain crew- Corleen our cameraman and coco the sound recordist! We started with a walk around the site, once we navigated the complex route to the car park and walked to the entrance. It was a lot busier in Friday and with stalls on both sides, people waiting for food to be prepared , and most of the seats taken by people playing on their mobiles it wasn't as enjoyable as in the week. We left at 8 pm and the people were still arriving and the traffic was horrendous.

Our egg noodles with chicken and oyster sauce from Hong Kong

Anyway, enough of the bad planning and choice of site, let us get down to the food. Our first stop was Hong Kong Restaurant where we had a great chicken with egg Noodle and Corleen got some great shots of the chef cooking in his HUGE wok. You can check out the vlog here:

Next stop were the fluffy pancakes and the Bahraini ladies asked if we had tasted their product before and which one we wanted. They had a mouth watering set of samples on display and the three Pinoy chefs were doing their best to keep up with demand.

Just some of the delicious Fluffy pancake samples on display

They were using a tablet to take the orders and cash, print the receipts and then the chefs got a printed receipt which they put in order on their table. One chef cooked the pancakes on a griddle and the other assembled them and as each one went out they clicked a counter so they knew how many they had sold and could update the customers on when their order would be ready. A very impressive operation focusing on a simple product range, doing it well and getting a great reputation in Bahrain along the way. You must try Fluffy! Full details of their restaurant in Bussatein are in part one of this two part Blog and vlog series. Great job Shaikah's!

Next stop was BOBA for some HUGE drinks

By now the boys were thirsty and wanted to try a milk product served in a HUGE container that the guy on the stall guaranteed would last us all night! We just had to video his sales pitch and he was certainly pulling the customers in along with his Pinay colleague who was reciting their menu in Tagalog for my Kabayan! With so many stalls to choose from you need eye catching visuals , a memorable name, some good eye catching product samples, and someone with the gift of the gab in several languages- Arabic, Tagalog and English - and this stall had it all! Funnily enough we later saw the guys promoting coffee on a friends stall where we finally found a table, which was hilarious as they had no idea what coffees were on sale. Special thanks to the Indonesian and Pinoy Baristas for letting the three of us sit with just one coffee for an hour and sorry I tried to walk off without paying for the second coffee!

One of our HUGE Milkd from BOBA

One of my two strong Americanos- guess who could not sleep after the food festival! Luckily neither could my friend Rew so I collected him at 6 am after a few hours sleep and we had lunch by the sea and then slept all day! He gave me a very relaxing massage at 3 and then we had a late lunch ( Chorizo and bean stew, berries and zero fat yogurt,) and then went for a walk in the park!

Please don't expect me to pronounce the name of the coffee stall! After our two coffees we decided to go for another walk as Coco was getting cold ( the Bahrain temperatures plummet from 40 to 20 at night at this time of year with a cold wind) . We heard and saw the band doing a sound check on the main stage ( One two , one two, testing) and the big crowd gathered at 730 and eventually one of the band announced they were not performing until 830 pm, past my bed time. Weirdly the two stages are opposite each other in the middle of the Festival ( a circular route around the Bahrain Financial Harbour, so when a crown gathers for a performance no one can get past or to the other end ( 50) of the stalls! Talking of entertainment the chef characters were back entertaining the kids and a juggling unicyclist entertained us as we drank our coffee, HUGE BOBO and ate our noodles and fluffy pancakes!

My custard fluffy made with egg whites and custard and Caramelised with a blow torch ( thanks to Chef Coco for the ingredients!)

Final stop of the night was Indian street food stall Mumbai Street. At first we thought that was the Indian restaurant at Water Garden city, due to the colour scheme on the food truck. However my research found that the Indian Restaurant at Water Garden city is Raju Bhai ( https://foursquare.com/v/raju-bhai/5da098a7ef2ddb00077237bc ) and the Mumbai street restaurant is in Riffa

Their Daki Buri was amazing- you get 6 for 1.5 bd and you can have spicy or non spicy- you have to eat it all in one go as we found out the hard way- when you bite into it all the liquid runs out ( see the vlog!)

Well we had a very enjoyable night and there was a choice of bus - red double decker ( that normally operates at Water Garden city) or normal bus- when we went back to the car park. The stewards with their illuminated batons soon got us back on the road, and after fighting our way thorough the Friday night ( Saudi) traffic we managed to get back to Hidd.

Thanks to Coco and Corleen for their help with the Vlog and photos for the blog and we will see you soon for another action thrilled adventure from Bahrain next week.... when Rew and I met the Dinosaurs!

Until then , Ingat Palagi and Kita kits Palawan
