One of the students thanks the Volunteers
There is no greater pleasure than to donate to those less fortunate than you . In 2020 it was a great pleasure to be involved with the HOPE charity's biggest ever event so far where we donated gifts to 400 children at Manlag Elementary School in Palawan. We timed the event in January when both Mama Jam and I were on the Island . I drove the 7 hour journey from Puerto , where I was staying, to Barutaan to meet up with Jhoanna and her family . Later we went to Tandiken cottages to meet with Ran and his colleagues to fill the bags ( different colours for each year) with the books, pens, coloring pencils etc. It was great to meet up with everyone again as it was a year since the last event.

That night we went back to Barutaan where I was staying with Jhoanna's family and then the next day we drove to El Nido Cove for breakfast . I took Making, Elay, Jhoanna , Althea and we met up with Ran, Ritchelle and John, who were all delighted to see us again.
Breakfast at Cove where Making was not feeling very well- he gets car sick
Then we drove on to Manlag where all the teachers were waiting with Banners, food, tables, and microphones! We got all the gifts out and after a few prayers and speeches started donating.
The kids were very well behaved and shepherded by their teachers and the volunteers . They came up by year group to get their gifts and then went back to sit on the grass in the sun.

Mama Jam and the 11 volunteers are presented with a certificate of appreciation by the school
After feeding the 400 kids the teachers entertained the volunteers to a superb lunch
400 plastic beakers of dessert was next!
Then finally we said our goodbyes and headed back to El Nido- but we will be back again in 2022!
