Noel and Frythy - 2 of my 3 Houseboys in Palawan- with Chester
Frythy joined Team TBK over a year ago and asked if his friend Noel could join him, cleaning my house. They both work very hard keeping the big Blue House clean after school, 2 nights a week. Frythy, ever the Entrepreneur, suggested they should also dog sit two mornings a week ( they had school from Noon to 8 pm back then) so I could get out and about. Chester loved all the walks and games with the boys and all 3 became firm friends.

What impressed me most about the boys was how self- motivated and hard working they were, considering Noel is only 17 and Frythy 18. Frythy lives at Siscican which is 12 km or 30 mins in a car from their school. He has to walk to the main road , get a multi cab to the Capitol and then a tricycle to the school and they have to be there by 7 am, so he leaves home at 6 am. They get an hour lunch break then they finish school at 5pm and then get a Trike to my house on Monday and Wednesday. I feed them and then they clean until 7 pm and then go and play Volleyball and finally get home around 10 pm!

The longer they worked for me the more I learnt about them. Frythy's mum was an OFW ( Overseas Filipino Worker) in Singapore and their house was destroyed by Typhoon Odette. Mum sent a years wages to Palawan to rebuild it and the money I gave to Frythy he gave to his 16 year old sister for snacks and lunch at school, art materials etc. Noel asked if he could put his school shirt in with my washing and then I discovered he only had one shirt and washed it each night after school. I bought him a new shirt and gave them each 5000 pesos for Christmas (£76) and now sponsor Mia, so Frythy can spend his money on himself.

When I found Frythy liked photography I gave him my old Cannon Camera and took him to the beach for the day to take photos and make videos which I edited into a Vlog. You can see the Vlog by clicking the picture below:

He also helped take photos for Chester's Calendar - see above. I later realised they both liked cooking ( Frythy cooks for his brothers who are rebuilding the house). Frythy helped me prepare the food for Jhoanna's surprise 22nd Birthday party . Then I got them involved with cooking our Christmas dinner and was impressed with how well they prepared the ingredients, checked the recipe, asked questions if they were unsure and then cooked the food. They had many compliments from our guests.

So I decided to take both boys to Surya beach for the day and give them the Camera to see what they would come up with in the way of photos and Videos. As usual special thanks to the team at Surya for making it a memorable day for us all. If you want to find out more about Surya beach see my December vlogs when I stayed there for a week before Christmas:

There really
is something for everyone at Surya beach- the boys love exploring and taking photos of the rocks at the far end of the
beach.
Tatay loves walking in the sandy beach....
Many years ago this path to the sea was cleared and is now used to access the beach beyond the rocks. Be warned, though, the water in the channel is DEEP ( I had my mobile in my pocket one time I followed Chester to the sea and it nearly drowned!)
You can see Chester swimming here in the Vlog the boys filmed- and there are also more photos they took there:
Many guests I have met at Surya from Russia and Europe just come to lie in the sun and they have plenty of seats and cushions for that. Make sure you bring your sun block and insect repellant- in December I got bitten many times and on this last trip I got sunburnt!

If group
activity is your thing (you could hire all of the accommodation and sleep more
than 10 people or book the place in the day for a team building activity) there
is plenty of room on the sand for Patintero.
We guarantee if you come for the day you will go home exhausted
Both boys and Chester fell asleep on the way home
If you are
staying overnight there are 3 luxuriously furnished accommodation units ( 2
with AC one with fan ) - that way you get to see the amazing sunrises and sunsets.
The Family room ( 2 Queen beds, one single and one sofa bed)You can find more details about the accommodation, rates, day trips and ask questions of the very helpful owner through their Facebook page or their Air BNB Listing:

As usual our thanks to the Surya staff and owner for looking after us so well and we look forward to returning later in the year for another day trip.
Special thanks to Fry and Noel for their creative photography and Videos
I am glad you both enjoyed your day out and your first trip to Aborlan.
