TBK Travels - Accor Adagio, Dubai

Jeboy relaxes on the sofa at our apartment on the 24th Floor at Adagio

A funny thing happened before Christmas. I was walking down the street in Al Barsha and I saw a sign at the back of the Novotel offering apartments. That week someone had suggested it would be cheaper to stay in an apartment than a hotel. So I went in and asked the Pinay receptionist. She said they did not have rooms until 2 Jan 2022 and when I asked for the rate for a 44 night stay she suggested I call the sales manager . To cut a long story short , having been shown a sample apartment ( amazing) and agreed a very favorable rate ( less than IBIS Styles) I moved in on 2 Jan 2022!

7 is the Spa, Gym and Pool, 23 and 24 are one bedroom and above are 2,3  and 4 room apartments

The apartment is on the 24 Floor with amazing views of Al Barsha, Mall of Emirates and the surrounding area. It has a pool and gym and there is a spa. The building is shared with Novotel and so there is a restaurant and bar on the ground floor.

The amazing view from my apartment, even better at night

The 1 bedroom apartment has an ensuite bath, shower, bidet and toilet then there is a separate guest toilet, washing machine, kitchen with breakfast bar ( where I now right my blogs- next to the kettle for coffee and fridge for cold water) dinning area and lounge!

ADAGIO BY ACCOR VLOG

As usual I messaged all my friends in Dubai before I left Bahrain and asked when each was free to meet up. My friends in the Hospitality industry ( Jeboy, Erickson, Joshua and Thang) were all very busy over the Christmas and New Year period but Jeboy was off on 2 and 3 January so we met for breakfast at Ibis Al Barsha after he dropped my clean laundry at Adagio ( next to the Metro). I checked in at 8 am and left my luggage and then went to have breakfast at IBIS Al Barsha ( after my bad experience on New Year's day at IBIS Styles.

My breakfast at Ibis Al Barsha on 2 Jan- the staff gave me a warm welcome back

We then got the free van at 10.35 am to Bluewater, and walked to Ain Dubai. Sadly the weather was against us and the wheel was closed for safety reasons due to the wind and rain.

Ain Dubai at a standstill on 2 January due to Health and Safety concerns

You can see the weather and the tallest wheel in the world, bought to a halt by the bad weather on our latest Vlog by clicking the link below:

WINDY DAY AT BLUEWATER VLOG

Our first stop was at Brands 4 Less for this warm winter coat!

Initially the guys at Ain Dubai said they had health and safety protocols to follow due to the bad weather and they would rather have us disappointed on the ground than in the air! They reassured us that the wheel was working ok and suggested we come back later if the weather got better. So Jeboy and I walked to Starbucks for Meryenda and then along the walk at JBR and found a great place for lunch with some barbecued lamb chops and my favourite Kunafa.

We sat and watched the world ( and the noisy Lamborghinis, Maserati's and the like crawl by revving their engines- VROOM VROOM LOOK AT ME) go by. Then I took Jeboy on a secret walk through one of the JBR underground car parks to the Tram at JBR 1 and we passed Pav's old place at JBR 2, and disembarked at JLT tram, where we changed to DMCC Metro for the journey back to Mashreq and the short walk to Adagio.

                               Our Manok and Baboy adobo

After we did some shopping in the evening Jeboy cooked his famous Manok and Baboy Adobo with  Rice, and I went to bed early while Jeboy chatted to his friends and family on line and slept on the sofa.

                                   My lovely bed at Adagio

On the second day it rained again so we had a taxi to Mall of Emirates ( more shopping ) and then could not get a taxi back as the queues were too long. After an hour of being sent from one queue to another, not being allowed to get in the arriving taxis, trying to book a cab on line and then being unable to find them- all with a trolley load of shopping - we went to the Sheraton and ordered a Limousine for the short trip back to Adagio ( 100 AED or 10 bd)

Chef Jeboy's Guacamole and Chicken a la Jeboy

In the evening we had another Chef Jeboy Masterclass when he made his famous  "Chicken a la Jeboy", Guacamole and his famous "Cheesy Cake" . He also did all my washing and washed up! Talk about being spoilt! Again I went to bed early and when I woke up Jeboy had gone home ( as he had work at 8 am on 4 January) and my fridge was full.

I had Cheesy cake for breakfast with some cereal and took the rest down to the receptionists with two portions of Adobo and Rice. There was still plenty left for me and Joshua and his friend who are coming tonight to do my haircut, manicure and pedicure.  I will also have a massage today and read my book as the forecast is still not good weather wise.

One of the amazing Dubai Canvas prints on the wall near my apartment

Sometimes the PR people get a bit carried away with their descriptions on websites but in the case of Adagio every word is true. The two Pinay and one Pinoy receptionists have responded positively to every request from printing my menu for the week, sending the Engineer 3 times to fix the AC ( Too hot, too cold and on day three - just right) , housekeeping with a new iron and to empty the kitchen bin - but they cleaned the whole flat two days running ) , directions to Foreign exchange etc.

I think it's going to be a wonderful stay here, and I would recommend he place to anyone who needs to stay in Dubai for a while.

Di- I bet no one ever sits here!

We will be back with more of our adventures in Dubai soon but until then this is TBK signing out with as usual:

Ingat Palagi

Kita Kits

It's 5.15 am which is, for me, breakfast time!
